Description

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs, room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1 tablespoon distilled white vinegar
  • Red food coloring (as desired)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 325°F (160°C) and prepare a bundt pan by greasing and flouring it.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, salt, and cocoa powder until well combined.
  3. In a separate bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. Mix in the sour cream, buttermilk, and distilled white vinegar until the batter is smooth.
  6. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the buttermilk mixture, starting and ending with the dry ingredients.
  7. Stir in red food coloring until you achieve the desired vibrant red color.
  8. Pour the batter into the prepared bundt pan and smooth the top.
  9. Bake for approximately 60-70 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with moist crumbs.
  10. Allow the cake to cool in the pan before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
